30 Catholic Bishops attend Bogota Alpha Conference

Around 30 Roman Catholic archbishops and bishops attended an Alpha conference in Bogota, Colombia last month.

The conference was led by Nicky Gumbel and a team from Holy Trinity Brompton which included Bishop Sandy Millar, Tricia Neill, Paul Cowley and Mark De Levritz, head of the Alpha Office in France. 

Representatives came from all over South America and the Caribbean, including Argentina,Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Three Archbishops attended the conference, they were Mons. Luis Castro from Colombia, Mons Luis Cabrera from Ecuador and Mons Diego Rafael Padron Sanchez fromVenezuela.

Archbishop Luis Augusto Castro said, "The Alpha course helps us not only to meet, love and follow Jesus but also to help others, especially those who are lost or that never have heard about Him, to have a new start in Jesus and meet Him, love Him and follow Him, for His eternal glory."

During the conference many Catholic leaders, including priests and nuns from all over Latin America, spoke of how God was using Alpha in their countries.

Father Glecion Da Silva, from Brazil said, "Alpha has transformed my community. We have the spirit of living love."
