More than 300 people attended an Alpha launch at New Community Church, Sidcup yesterday, where the‘Vicar of Baghdad’ Andrew White spoke.

Andrew White is Vicarof St Georges church in Baghdad, which has more than 3,500 members attendingeach week.

Last term St Georgeschurch had more than 2,700 Iraqi people come on their Alpha course, which wasrun on multiple days throughout the week over the ten-week period. Andrew said,“Holy Trinity Brompton are the biggest supporters of my work in Iraq.”

The event at NCC wasto help launch their new Alpha course that starts next week and will be held ina local Indian restaurant. On Alpha Andrew said, “If you don’t know where youare going in life – go on Alpha. It’s really great. As humans we all havedoubts. The wonderful thing about the Alpha course is that you can answer allthose questions and doubts. It’s a very simple and logical structure. Everyoneshould do it – it’s wonderful.”
