Charles did his first Alpha course in 1991 at St Paul's Onslow Square, London ( a daughter church of HTB) and in the following year he and his wife ran one of the first home Alpha Course in Cornwall. Since then he has been involved in other courses throughout the country. He supports Alpha simply because of the growing evidence of it being an effectual tool in leading individuals to a living faith in Jesus Christ, and in transforming their lives for the better. Charles, his wife and three daughters all take an active part in supporting their church Oasis, which seems to have a special appeal to the young as well as the broken.
Tim was an Engineer Officer in the Merchant Navy then varied engineering roles before surveying factories and designing industrial ventilation systems around southern England. Now he is the Vicar of St Jude's Church in Plymouth where they run Alpha all year round. No matter the size of the course, he has found a relaxed style and venue really helps those who take the plunge to come as guests. As an Alpha Advisor in Plymouth he is very happy to help anyone in the local region with whatever level of advice they might want to get their own course off the ground or for ideas to refresh an existing one. And he loves the opportunity to work with any denomination of church - "this is about growing the kingdom, not a single church".
I'm a copywriter and trainer, you name it, I'll write it or stand up and talk about it! But before that I'm a father of a 15 year old boy, a husband to Anthea for 20+ years, and above all, Christian, with an abiding love of Alpha and the New Wine ethic.. I also love old cars, books, and helping others, especially if it brings them nearer to Christ; and wine, did I mention wine? And food. Got two dogs, a cat.....
I started working life as an actor (playing a teacher in Grange Hill 78-82) moved across to TV production at the BBC and then into video production working on the first few sets of Alpha videos and for a range of international relief organisations. We, that is Anna and I - now with Abigail and Julia, moved to Bath in 1997. Anna is an Associate Minister at Holy Trinity Combe Down with special responsibility for Home Groups and Prayer Ministry. Currently working on a series of DVDs for Tear Fund, together with property development. I am helping on the new city wide Alpha that starts in September
