Alpha Friends

On Saturday 26th June over 50 delegates from across Hampshire and West Sussex gathered for a half day Accelerate event at St Jude's Church, Southsea. The programme was varied and fast moving. Rev'd Paul Zaphiriou, the vicar of St Mary's and St David's Holloway, opened the event with a talk on 'Alpha DNA' and then we had a choice of two tracks: the first covered Essential Elements and Top Tips for running the Alpha course; the second offered a choice of seminars on the Theology of Alpha, Youth & Student Alpha, the Marriage Course and what to do After Alpha. Local Alpha Advisers, together with Nicola Saunders and Nicola Marshall, from Alpha International, gave the talks and led the seminars. Delegates reported that they felt uplifted by the welcome and worship, found the talks very helpful and valued the opportunity to discuss their questions in the seminars. Most would like to attend a similar event again and the organisers, Mike Duff, the vicar of St Jude's, Tim Hancock and Richard Bull, fellow local Alpha Advisers, are encouraged to do so next year.
