I wonder how many marriages there are out there that owe their start to Alpha?!!

Mine is one. I became a Christian on Alpha in 1999 and helped out on the next course, was a leader on the one after that.....then joined the staff of my church and became our Alpha administrator....then became a local Alpha Advisor. Then in September 2006 the son of a couple on my latest Alpha team turned up to our Alpha supper in a local pub. He had been brought up a Christian but did the teenage rebellion thing between 17 and 28. By week 4, his mum was desperate to matchmake us - but I always believed that I should only date those who share my passion for Jesus - so I kept saying ' ah...that's sweet but he's not a Christian.'

One night near the end of the course during our post Alpha drink the in the pub - I got chatting to the guy in question and he told me that he had ended up on Alpha after seeing the cinema adverts play every night in a cinema he was going to whilst working away from home. As a video editor, he told me he was impressed at the professionalism of the advert for a Christian thing. His dad had then invited him to our course and whilst weighing up if he would go he mused as he walked a friend's dog that God - if he existed - would give him a sign. When a pigeon instantly poo-ed on him in that moment - he took it as a sign from God (!!) and came along to Alpha!

He started coming along to our church (I said I'd buy him a pint and introduce him to hot, single women if he came along) and in the new year of 2007, I realised that he was in fact now a growing Christian and no longer off limits for a dating relationship! So we started dating in January 2007, got engaged in September and married on the 8th March this year! My husband has become a committed and enthusiastic member of my core Alpha team and we are about to start our next Alpha in a local curry house tomorrow night.

We both owe our relationship with Jesus to the Alpha course and our relationship with each other!!!
