More than 1200 delegates from 77 countries and 28 denominations attended Alpha's EMEA (Europe, Middle-East & Africa) Week this June 2010. Of these, over 160 Catholic delegates attended, including over 20 Catholic archbishops, bishops and their representatives from across the world.

The Bishop of London, Richard Chartres, opened the week and a special message of support was broadcast by video from Fr Raniero Cantalamessa, Preacher to the Papal Household, and from the Archbishop of Canterbury.  Visit www.alphafriends.org/video/special-messages-archbishop-canterbury-fr-raniero-cantalamessa to view these messages.

Archbishops and bishops from all denominations attended a 'Bishops Stream', hosted by the Bishop of London.  Bishop Kieran Conry (Arundel and Brighton, Chair of the Department for Evangelisation and Catechesis) joined the stream for one of its sessions.

As part of the week's activities, there was also a special Mass celebrated by the Archbishop of Westminster, Vincent Nichols, at Westminster Cathedral, with the visiting Catholic archbishops, bishops and priests concelebrating.  For more details please go to www.catholic-ew.org.uk/Catholic-Church/media_centre/press_releases/press_releases_2010/Archbishop-Welcomes-Bishops-From-Across-the-World-For-Unique-Evangelisation-Gathering.
