The South Wales Regional Marriage Dinner was held in Cardiff on Friday May 8th, at Glenwood Church Centre, just off the M4 in the North of Cardiff. Hosted by Rob Parsons of Care for the Family, featuring an inspiring presentation by Nicky and Sila Lee, 116 guests sat down to a delicious three-course candlelit meal in a setting reminiscent of a romantic restaurant, with red roses on the tables and soft music playing.
The Marriage Course had already been running in a few places, mainly in Cardiff, for several years; but our hope was to see the vision being caught by those with a heart for supporting marriage across a much wider area, and the course running in many more places.
From the conversations that took place as the evening drew to a close, it was clear that this hope was well on the way to being realised. Seven Marriage Course starter packs were bought on the night, one new course was set up to start the following week; and several church leaders and representatives from across South Wales expressed the desire to do the Course themselves, with a view to running it in their churches.
A few representatives of the political scene in Wales were also present, and we hope that as a result, there will be stronger political support for changing the culture in Wales towards one where marriage is affirmed and honoured.
