OUR GOD 'RAINS'
Wet weather didn't spoil the Churches 'Together for Alpha' Launch day
Sunday 30th August saw the Launch of Churches Together for Alpha on the Rectory Lawn at St Andrews Church Maghull, Merseyside. Undeterred by the rain churches from Melling, Maghull and Lydiate held a launch event for their forthcoming Alpha course starting in September.
The event was free and included face painting beat the goalie, bouncy castle, tin can alley and BBQ and refreshments.
The Mayor and Mayoress from Maghull and Leader from Lydiate Parish Council attended to open the event and to launch the Alpha Course. The Mayor of Maghull encouraged the churches by thanking them for working together in the area and hoped that the Alpha course would be a success.
Even before the event was officially launched a young woman named Kate came along and completed a registration form beacuse she had seen Alpha advertised around the area.
Steve Little, Co-ordinator for Together for Alpha said, "The churches working together has been fantastic. Today's event, even though it rained was relaxed, well supported and great fun. That's precisely what the Alpha course is all about; it's a way of exploring the Christian faith in a relaxed atmosphere. The only commitment we ask of people is to attend the first session. There's no pressure, if they feel they can't commit for the whole course, that's fine. It's not a 'hard sell'; we don't need to do that. What we believe is simple, true and life changing. And Alpha is a great way of showing that!
The day concluded with a joint service in the church.
