Once the course draws to a close some of your group may be new Christians. It’s vitally important to link them into an environment where they will grow and enjoy their new life as a Christian.
Follow up
If your course is run on campus by students for students, then you may not have the church environment where people feel they can easily slot in. Going to church may be a brand new experience for some guests on your course. Therefore it’s important to consider what is available to your students and where you might encourage them to get involved.
Church
It is vital that Christians are encouraged to get involved with their local church. It’s important that you take your guests to church and encourage them to go during the last few weeks of the course – for example after the weekend/day away you could all arrange to meet up before church and go along together.
Christian Union and other student groups…
It could be that your guests are part of a local church and a Christian group. It is often in Christian groups that people experience strong Christian community and it can be a place where your guests may feel at home. However, it’s important not to pressure people into joining something they may not be ready for, and to make sure people feel invited - not obligated.
If you are in a situation where you don’t have access to a local church or there are no Christian groups on campus, then we would recommend that your group meets regularly to study the Bible. A great course for new Christians is A Life Worth Living.
